William Vaile, a passionate man
In a small ancient village surrounded by the rolling hills of the Entre-deux-Mers, Domaine de Dardenac stands. Built during the reign of Louis XVI, the residence is surrounded by a lovely English garden designed and drawn by William Vaile owner in the last nineteenth century.
On these sunny lands that belonged to Vicomte de Benauge, marked by the hooves of the Vert Galant’s horse, William Vaile wine exporter transforms with passion the domain dedicated to a traditional polyculture in Entre-deux- Mers. He carefully selects the best plots to plant the vineyard and produce the first wines. Château Dardenac was born ...
We are indebted to Vaile William, the symbol of Château Dardenac, the peacock.
In 1922, he died prematurely, without children. The legatees, he had taken the precaution to designate in a holograph, lacking. Domaine de Dardenac is quickly sold. Several owners buy. We note among them, Ernest and Marguerite Maillet, recycle paper merchant, owner in 1937.
Domaine de Dardenac, a family domain
For a half century, the Domaine de Dardenac is owned by the Hugot family. Vineyard and wine lover, Jean Hugot, undertook to modernize the winery and risked the required investment. Since his death, his heirs bring their knowledge, their courage and persistence to make this place a space dedicated to the vine and wine worthy of the third millennium.
